Total Left Shoulder Joint Replacement
This medical exhibit depicts a total shoulder joint replacement, or arthroplasty, in a series of six steps. The following steps are shown: 1. A surgical incision is made in the front of the shoulder. Labels include the clavicle, scapula and humerus; 2. Dissection of the humeral head; 3. Removal of the humeral head; 4. Use of a bone rasp to prepare the humerus for a shoulder joint prosthesis; 5. Application of joint cement into the humerus; and 6. Placement of the humeral prosthesis.
