Description: This exhibit features sagittal views of the upper abdomen. It begins with a complete sagittal view that shows the widespread scar tissue following the previous abdominal procedures. The mesh is shown in place as a thin layer lining the anterior abdominal wall and it is clear that the transverse colon and substantial amounts of small bowel have become adherent to the mesh pulling it forward against the abdominal wall. A large diverticulum is shown protruding out from the upper anterior aspect of the transverse colon. The two larger insets depict the incision for the placement of the mediastinal drainage tube and the insertion of the Kelly clamps and drawing of the Kelly clamp up through the incision into the mediastinum.
