Mechanism of Nerve Injury
This medical exhibit features four sections of a simple schematic nerve comparing the following scenarios: 1. Normal anatomy showing a straight normal plump nerve with no damage. 2. Traction injury showing a retractor pulling the nerve and stretching it. 3. Crush injury with the blades of forceps grasping and crushing a section of the nerve. 4. Laceration injury showing a scalpel cutting a portion of the nerve.
