Description: This stock medical exhibit begins with an anterior view of the left legs of an adolescent who has already had multiple skin grafting procedures. The bones are visible beneath the skin and it is clear the the left leg is longer than the right. The next images describe the surgery to correct this leg length discrepancy - in which bone blocks are created at the growth plates at the distal femur and proximal tibia of the left leg. The final image shows the post-operative condition, in which growth is retarded in the left leg due to the bone blocks but the right leg will continue to grow until it catches up with the left.
