Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS)

ID: exh61232
This stock medical exhibit compares the appearance of a normal glomerulus with the appearance of a glomerulus affected by focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). The exhibit shows a small cut-away view of the entire kidney offering an orientation. The normal image shows that impurities in the blood are filtered out of the glomerulus into the bowman's capsule creating urine. The FSGS image shows a large section of the glomerulus atrophied and withered with text discussing how scarring impairs the normal function of the renal tissue.
