During Evacuation - Rectocele

ID: exh62701c
This stock medical exhibit begins with two print enlargements comparing a defecogram of an individual with normal anatomy versus abnormal anatomy of the rectum during evacuation. Next, additional enlargements of these two films are included with the region of the rectum and anus from both images shown highlighted in bright purple to draw attention to the regions of contrast material in each image. Finally, two interpretive illustrations are included based on the two films revealing the female pelvis from a sagittal (side cut-away) view. Again the rectal area is shown with contrast in each film. The interpretation of the abnormal anatomy clearly shows a partially torn puborectalis muscle and a rectocele bulging forward and distorting the course of the vagina in this individual who has had a previous hysterectomy.
