Anatomy of the Digestive and Respiratory Systems
Anatomy of the Digestive and Respiratory Systems
This medical exhibit features one large anterior silhouette (outline) view of the torso of a white female figure revealing a stylized and simplified view of the digestive and respiratory organs. This includes the esophagus, stomach, a simplified network of small intestines and the colon, as well as the trachea, bronchi and lungs. Numerous arrows show the course of flow through the digestive system down through the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, small bowel and colon. Also, one large sagittal (side cut-away) view of the head, neck and upper torso show the upper digestive tract and respiratory system in greater detail. This reveals how the esophagus and trachea come together into a common channel in the pharynx. Again arrows show how swallowed material go through the mouth and down through the esophagus but not into the trachea.
