This medical exhibit depicts oxygen deprivation resulting in permanent brain damage using multiple illustrations. The first image shows a well oxygenated fetus. The second image is that of an oxygen deprived fetus with meconium stained amniotic fluid and a significantly compressed umbilical cord. The third shows improved fetal oxygenation with clearing amniotic fluid after amnioinfusion and slightly less compression of the umbilical cord. The final image depicts occlusion of the umbilical cord due to shoulder dystocia resulting in anoxic damage to the fetus.
