This stock medical exhibit features illustrations comparing normal anatomy of the lower extremity compartments to the anatomy of the lower extremity during compartment syndrome. The first illustration provides an anterior orientation of the lower leg to identify the plane of section visualized in the next illustration. The second illustration displays the normal anatomy and labels the lateral, anterior, deep posterior and superficial posterior compartments. The third illustration again provides an anterior orientation of the lower leg to identify the plane of section visualized in the next illustration. The final illustration on the exhibit shows the muscles in the compartments swelling and compressing the nerves and blood vessels within the different compartments.
